Parkridge Warmbloods is owned and farmed by Carol Eivers and Neil Chittock and their
two sons Robbie and Warner. It is situated South West of Havelock Northand forms
part of the foothills of Mount Kahuranaki.
Parkridge covers 274 hectares of magnificent Hawke’s Bay hill country rising from
80 metres to almost 400 metres above sea level. The limestone country has streams
close to their source and produces horses which are well developed, strong boned
and athletic.
Carol was brought up on Ihungia Station North of Gisborne. Horse were part and parcel
of both life and farming in this somewhat isolated area and it is no surprise that
Carol developed a keen eye and lasting passion for these animals. She has been riding
since the age of three and has produced some very handy pony hunters.
Her father developed an admiration of the magnificent Hanoverians during World War
II when a prisoner of war discussed the merits of the breed with him. This interest
was passed on to Carol and when Mount Everest—an unregistered Hanoverian—arrived
in New Zealand about 1980, they sent six mares to him. The remnants of this bloodline
still exists today. Carol bred some fine jumping stock with Irish Hunter stallions,
notably Irish Guard in the late 1980’s but was drawn back to the Hanoverian horses
with the arrival of Anamour. She now has three lovely mares by Anamour which have
been mated with some of the top German bloodlines via frozen semen, They have produced
some outstanding young individuals with wonderful temperament and very good movement.
70% OF A FOALS ATTRIBUTES ARE PASSED ON FROM THE MARE.
Parkridge has selected the dams carefully for type, temperament and constitution
to ensure their progeny will have the right genetic base to become successful competition
horses. They have faithfully followed the hereditary transmitters that have been
used in Europe to refine these magnificent horses. While there is no such thing
as the perfect mare Parkridge believe they have built up an exceptional band of
mares for their purpose. Parkridge only uses licensed Hanoverian stallions as this
ensures that only the best bloodlines are being used which in turn makes for greater
success and minimises the risk for both breeder and purchaser.
